CHIEF’S MESSAGE

Kevin F. Groody, Fire Chief

Welcome to the Worthington Fire Department Web Site! The Worthington Fire Department has been serving the Worthington community since 1943. The Worthington Fire Department was originally organized to protect a rural farming community within Jefferson County. Now it is a rapidly growing suburb of over 30,000 people within 19 square miles in northeast Jefferson County (Louisville, Kentucky) and parts of Oldham County. We are a respected leader within the fire service and a trusted agency when counted upon to provide mutual aid to neighboring agencies.

We pride ourselves on being dedicated to the community in which we live, serve and protect. We currently operate out of three stations with a staff of forty nine (49) full and part-time personnel. We respond to fire and EMS emergencies as well as Hazardous Materials emergencies and other technical emergencies such as confined space, trench, and water rescues.

It is our mission to continually provide quality service that meets the ever increasing demands of our district as well as the surrounding districts. In order to accomplish this we must continually recognize how the fire service is continually changing and evolve to meet the growing demands of our district due to rapid growth and a rising population.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve this department and this community. Thank you for visiting our web site.
